Bummin on the West Coast

Last weekend the boyfriend and I went to L.A. to visit some family. My lovely sister (who so lovingly opened her doors to us, see I'm giving you a shout out D!) lives in West Hollywoood, Saturday morning we decided to wander around the city, and I thought I'de take a few shots of what I wore. It's a very casual look, but I'm loving the red shoes I got from Forever21 so I had to show off :)

YARDHOUSE!

It's been forever since I posted, and I am truley sorry. I have recently been trying to get my foot in the door in another career that deals more with fashion than leasing. I lost sight of my personal goals for Beauty in Revolt and started concentrating on other peoples ideas of fashion instead of my own. So, last night I went out with the gals, had a few drinks and got myself back on track.....This is what I wore...

LOGO!!!

I'm sooo sorry! I know it's been a long time since I have posted anything on the blog, and I'm really sorry about that. I have had a lot going on with my day job that hasn't allowed me any time to edit some photos for you guys! But trust me I am definitely getting the ball rolling! This Sunday I will be attending the Black Music Awards voting party hosted by my good friend and cliend Nicole Williams, but in order to go and mingle I needed cards! So I called on my knight and shining boyfriend to design a logo, and I fell in love! This is going to be the official Beauty in revolt logo, let me know what you think, and don't forget to "LIKE" us on Facebook!

p.s. keep a look out for some pics of Sunday's brunch and other random outting, I promise they will be up very soon!

FRIDA KAHLO

One of my great friends, Flor, has asked me to help her revamp her wardrobe for the summer. Flor is an amazing artist, and an inspiration. She works with kids at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas and has featured her art in Vegas's First Friday as well as the Day of the Dead exhibit here.  She told me she recently started looking through one of her idols work, and biography. She became inspired, and has given me the exciting task of bring Frida back! She wants me to help her modernize Frida Kahlo's style, and give her a new look for the summer!

I'm ecstatic about this project and already started to do a little research. I've looked at some of Frida's self portraits and read a little bit about her history. And all I can say is DAM! that woman went through it all! But no matter what she was trying to say through her self portraits, I just kept seeing strength, heart, and beauty.  Her use of bold colors, and light clothing inspired me for the summer.  Keep posted to the blog for updates on Flor's wardrobe. But for now, definitely check out some of her stuff, she really was an amazing person!

I'm ready for my close up!

This is my first post on Beauty in Revolt. As most of you  know this is a new adventure for me (Leslie). I have finally gotten started on my dream of making the world beautiful one person at a time! I wanted to  start this blog so that you guys can join me on the ups and downs of getting this "venture" of mine, on its feet. I know it's going to take a lot of time, money, and dedication but being 25 years old, broke as a joke, and working full time....I think I'm ready! So join me on this ride, and if you can help in any way, believe me, I WILL ask!
